100-level Business Administration student of University of Lagos (UNILAG), Ariyibi Ayomide has reportedly taken her own life after she was shamed publicly by her roommates. The Employee Relations and Human Resources Management major was accused of taking makeup kits and clothes that didn’t belong to her. Her roommates had then taken it up against her, calling her all sorts of names to shame her. Some other residents of her hostel had reportedly joined in the shaming as she was led away by her mother after the issue had been resolved. However, on getting home, she reportedly drank a bottle of Sniper insecticide to take her own life. One Ajani Damilola, who is also a student of the university narated the story.

[Benue]–The University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) has garnered a massive 150 medals to emerge the overall winners of the 25th Nigeria University Games. The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the games were held at the Federal University of Agriculture, Makurdi between April 22 and April 29. The medals table released by the NUGA secretariat on Saturday in Makurdi, shows that a total of 57 universities contested for medals at the sports fiesta. UNIPORT had 70 gold, 47 silver and 33 bronze medals secured in Judo, Athletics, Taekwondo, Volleyball, Basketball, Scrabble and Tennis. Ahmadu Bello University Zaria won 11 gold, 2 silver and 3 bronze medals to emerge a distant second while Benson Idahosa University came third with 10 gold, 7 silver and 9 bronze. University of Lagos with 20 medals, made up of 9 gold, 4 silver and 7 bronze took fourth position while University of Benin was fifth, and the host institution took the 11th position with 2 gold, 10 silver and 12 bronze medals.

The Police in Kano state have arrested the former governor of Jigawa State, Sule Lamido. According to reports, Lamido, who was governor from 2007 to 2011, was arrested for allegedly inciting his supporters to stop the conduct of local government elections being organised by the current governor, Muhammad Badaru. Lamido was arrested this morning at his home in Sharada and was taken to the Zone one command of the state police were he is still being detained and interrogated. A 41-year-old man who raped a five-year-old girl in Croydon, UK has been jailed for 13 years. Jerry Ablorh of Bensham Grove, Thornton Heath, was sentenced on Friday, April 28, at Croydon Crown Court having previously been found guilty of rape and two counts of sexual assault by penetration. He attacked the girl at his former home in Collyer Avenue, Croydon between January and December 2014. The court heard that Ablorh had befriended the victim and her mother and worked hard to build up their trust.
